Picture Storage Site

There are many websites that have photo storage services.  Many of these sites offer free services as well as services that cost money.  The services that are free are normally just a portion of the services that you receive when you become a paying member.  For example if you were using the storage site for free you would be able to storage like 1 GB of space, and 3 minute videos.  If you happen to be a paying member you may have the access to 10 GB of storage, and be able to upload a 10 minute video.  Other things that they limit to paying members would be being able to edit the photos that you upload to the site.  Many of these sites have only been around since around 2000 or so.  They are fairly new, and are always improving the services that they provide.  There are some companies that have changed there services, and lowered them. One great advantage of saving your photo's on one of these sites is that if something was to happen in your home your photos will not be lost.  If you store them on the Internet they will always be there.

Photobucket is a storage site that was founded in 2003, they offer many different services including video hosting, image hosting, photo sharing, and a slide show creator.  It has since been bought by Fox Interactive Media in 2007, but offer the same services.  Photobucket was one of the first photo storage sites on the Internet, and has been very popular.  Photobucket lowered their free services from 1 GB to 500 MB in August of 2009.  They have also changed some of their storage space on the paid services as well.  Photobucket is the most popular storage site because they are one of the most user friendly of the storage sites. 

Another photo storage site is called Shutterfly, and it has been gaining popularity ever since it's release.  Shutterfly offers free storage of photos, as well as an unlimited storage.  It says they will never delete photos.  Shutterfly also offers services like putting your photos on postcards, calendars, posters, stationery, and photo albums.  Then you can purchase all of these for a small fee.  Shutterfly offers a 100% money back guarantee, and if you are not satisfied with your purchase you can get your money back.  Besides doing all these things they also offer you the ability of sharing your photos with people, you can give those people a special log on, and password and they can view your pictures anytime.  This is a great service for people that live away from their family but want to share their photos with them.

Flickr is another popular photo storage site, and they offer almost the same services as the others do.  One of the unique things that Flickr offers is that there is a map that you can share where the photo was taken.  It also allows you to view photos that are taken near you.  You can also make DVDs with photos on them, framed prints, photo books, and another great feature of Flickr is that you can pick up your prints that you deside to get developed at your local Target store.  This is one of the only places that offer you this great service.  Normally you would have to have them sent to you, and have to wait for them to come in.  Another great feature of Flickr is that you can edit your photos without signing up for account that has a monthly fee. 

These are just a few of the many different sites where you can store your pictures.  Here is a list of many other sites that allow you to do the same thing.  These sites are for what is considered "Amateur" photographers, these services are normally free or have a small monthly fee associated with them.  There is another group of sites that store photos, these are sites that are associated with the professional photography field.  These sites have a higher monthly premium, but allow you to do more things, store more photos, and other convenient things designed for professional photographers.
